Over the years there have been a lot of great concepts on how to turn our windshields into a virtual screen like something out of Mission Impossible, but Jaguar Land Rover has actually made some of these concepts a reality that can possibly be seen in upcoming production vehicles.
Jaguar Land Rover has developed a 360 Virtual Urban Windscreen, allowing drivers 360 degrees of unobstructed vision of the road. Part of this sophisticated technology includes screens embedded in the A, B and C pillars that display live footage from cameras located outside of the vehicle, giving the illusion that the pillars have somehow become transparent.
JLR didn’t stop at see-through pillars, they also developed a heads-up display that projects a ghost car to follow when using navigation. The internet driven projected ghost car simply allows drivers to follow it wherever it goes, much safer than the “old-school” way of having to look down at navigation screen to see where to go.
Watch the video below to see how JLR is changing how people drive.
