Tom Magliozzi, host of National Public Radio’s “Car Talk” show, passed away yesterday at the age of 77 due to complications from Alzheimer’s.

Full of wisdom and humor, Tom and his brother Ray Magliozzi would dispense their “how-to” knowledge of repair tips and advice on life to millions of listeners on NPR. Their laid back humor and philosophical advice on anything from car problems to marriage dilemmas, made devoted listeners feel like they were talking to a best friend or family member who just happened to know a lot about cars, and life.

The Tappet Brothers stopped taping the live shows around two years ago, but previous shows are still being rebroadcast on NPR stations. Tom’s brother Ray hopes that the stations can still find time to air some of their most memorable shows as a tribute to his brother.
