The automaker just announced a global recall of about 850,000 A4s built from November 2011 to earlier this month. The 101,900 Audi A4s being recalled stateside are from model years 2013-2015.

The airbag problem is caused by a glitch in the software code, which may prevent airbags from deploying properly in a crash. The good news for Audi owners is that the software glitch can be fixed by a dealer in about 20 minutes. Audi says this is not related to the most recent Takata airbag recall that may explode shrapnel at vehicle occupants.
